I have been taking photographs since I was 10 years old. I have recently started taking photography more seriously and continue to improve my techniques with both camera and Photoshop. I joined the Photographic Guild to meet other photographers who share my passion for photography.

Although I've been taking photographs for a long time, I still consider myself a beginner. There is always so much to learn, especially with digital photography. I shoot with an advanced point and shoot. About the only thing I can't do with my camera is change lenses. Someday, I will graduate to a DSLR. I love capturing the little things that nature creates that often go unnoticed. My point of view is often with my face pressed against the side of a tree or laying flat on the ground. Unless you're in these positions you miss some of the most spectacular images, at least in my opinion!

My local railway career ended in 1989, and my interest in photography developed since then. I admit that I basically am a point and shoot type, but can do a bit more. I really enjoy capturing a story in a photo or in a series of pictures, perhaps a family event, an outing, a vacation trip, or a nature thing.

My interests are in nature and macro photography, but digital has greatly improved my portrait photography. I hope to rejoin photography club in the fall and be inspired by the talented members of the St. Thomas photographic guild.

Canon EOS 300D Rebel
I am new to photography. I belong to the St. Thomas Photographic Guild, The St. Thomas Field Naturalist Club and volunteer full time for Animal Aide of St. Thomas-Elgin where we rescue abandoned cats and dogs. I had a little Canon Power Shot A70 (with no attachments) for several years and used it mostly just for quick pictures and for sending pictures to be put on the Animal Aide web-site. I have always enjoyed playing with the pictures and editing just for my own use and entertainment. I now have a Canon EOS 300D Rebel. I also have a 75 x 300 Zooms lens and several filters to learn how to use! My sister, Judy, who is also a member of the St. Thomas Photographic Guild, got me interested in the Photo Club. I am enjoying leaning about my camera and editing of pictures through Photoshop Elements 4 and now also CS2. I find this to be a challenging hobby, but am enjoying it very much. I have met a lot of very nice people who enjoy sharing their talents and experiences and make newcomers, like myself, feel very comfortable. Their encouragement is wonderful. I look forward to this new adventure of really seeing the world (the big and small of it) through a lens.

Born in Australia, Leisa Hennessy is currently living in Ontario, Canada. She is the proud mother of 3 children. Her primary camera is a Nikon D80 along with a selection of Nikkor and Sigma lenses.
While she is still relatively new to photography her natural talent is apparent in her pictures. Her photography focuses on the beauty found in nature, especially in her macro and Bird photos.

I've enjoyed taking pictures of whatever gets in front of me since I was a child. I have 2 film SLRs, Konica & Minolta. I'm not sure which brand to choose in the Digital world. Meanwhile, I'm having fun with My Canon Powershot S3IS.

Pentax K10D
I have been in to photography for several years. I can remember as far back to when I was a kid I was always taking pictures. I got seriously in to Photography in Grade 10. I bought my first camera in 1998, a Pentax MZ-M, by cashing out a savings bond my grandma gave to me. That camera lasted me until my first year of college when I switched to a automatic camera. I bought my secound camera in Jan 2003, it was a Pentax MZ-6. I just recently turned to the dark side and bought my first Digital Camera in Nov 2006. It was a Pentax K100D.

Nikon film & digital and medium format
My favourite type ofphotography is Black and White. I shoot 35 mm film, digital and 6x6 and 6x9 medium format. Also I still have a darkroom for B&W processing. In digital I try to do the type of processing I would do in the darkroom most of the time.

I have dabbled in photography, on and off, for over 30 years. However, it is only in the last 6 or 7 years that I have taken it more seriously. I enjoy being outside taking photographs, but do not particularly enjoy working with them on the computer. If an image needs more than 10 to 15 minutes of digital work, then I just delete it, and move on. I especially like working with my macro lens and could not function without it. I take photographs because I enjoy it. If it stops being fun, I'll move on to something else.

I am a novice at serious photography. Although I have taken snapshots of trips, family events, and other special occasions, it is only recently that I have worked at improving my technique with the help and encouragement of my husband and mentor, John. I am experimenting with the various lenses that get handed down to me by John. I don't pretend to know anything about digital manipulation, I leave that up to John. I've learned a lot about photography over the past few years, and have enjoyed meeting other photographers in our area.

I bought my first SLR in the mid 70’s and have been playing around in photography ever since. About a year ago I made the move to a Digital SLR and have been getting more serious about this hobby again. I had discovered woodworking a number of years ago and it had become the main focus of my leisure time. Now woodworking has taken a backseat, photography once again is dominating my leisure hours.
Thanks to Terri, I was introduced to the St Thomas Photography Guild and have met many interesting people with a passion for photography. I am learning new ways of seeing the world around me and attempting to capture that vision through the medium of photography. I try all forms of photography but nature photography holds the most interest for me. The macro world fascinates me! Most of us are oblivious to it and do not take the time to enjoy the beauty that can be found there. I hope you take the time to look through my gallery and let me share with you my view of the world around us.

I had made the jump to digital in 2005 after a long absence from photography. The last serious photography I did was in a mass media course in university where we worked with B&W film and developed our own pictures. Since joining the St Thomas Photographic Guild and participating in the Sunday morning shoots I have been rekindling my passion for photography again. I just made the jump to a d-SLR and look forward to the increase flexiblity it will give me.

I "developed" an interest in the darkroom in the early 70's. I dabbled with B/W for 30 years and in 2001 began doing some serious black and white portraits. This led me to digital. I traded in my enlarger (figuratively) for CS3 and have been a NAPP member for several years.
Recently I have discovered the St. Thomas Photographic Guild where I love attending the regular and digital meetings. I always look forward to learning from all of the members there whom share a passion for photography.
