Sizing, Formatting, and Cropping for Output
|
- From the menu choose Image -> Image Size -> adjust the size of one of the dimensions
- Choose Layer -> New -> Layer from Background
- Image -> Canvas Size -> adjust the size of the other dimension
- Choose Tool -> Edit -> Free Transform (CTRL-T) -> then Move, Rotate, Resize or Distort the layer as desired
- Flatten the image

Sizing and Formatting a 4x6 to a 8x10 Without Cropping
|
- Image -> Image size -> change length to 10 inches
- Tool bar -> Eyedropper tool -> select a colour from the picture (this will be your foreground colour) -> switch to background colour
- Image -> Canvas size -> change the other dimension to 8 inches (This places the 7x10 image in the 8x10 frame and fills the space with the background colour)

Red Eye Correction (Before CS2)
|
- Choose the Elliptical Marquis tool
- Zoom in to the eye
- Make a selection around the red pupil, slightly larger than the pupil
- Select -> Feather Radius of 1
- Layer -> New -> Layer via copy
- Image -> Adjustments -> Hue/Saturation (or Ctrl +U) -> Edit: Reds -> Move the slider to the left to 290 to include more magenta
- Reduce saturation and lightness to remove red eye
- Remove excess overlap via eraser tool if necessary

Tone Correction With Curves
|
- Layer -> New adjustment layer -> Curves (Making an adjustment layer rather than changing the image directly lets you:
- Make more adjustments later
- Reduce adjustments via layer opacity
- Mask the layer to apply it only where you want it
- Remove adjustment layer altogether
- Flatten the image
